RedPoint Case in Point
Mike Pollock is a 27 year resident of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and lives in the rural New Salem / Rising Fawn area of Lookout Mountain. He graduated from The Baylor School for Boys in 1981, graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a BS in Psychology in 1987, and graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1991 with an MS in Applied Behavioral Sciences with an Organizational Development specialization. During the application/interview process for a first career position, Mike was introduced to The Birkman Method. He recalls being amazed at the results and held his Birkman folder closely for the next 10-12 years. During that time, Mike began working for a company called The Adventure Guild recognizing the connection between Experiential Education and Organizational Development. He became a partner with the company in 1996 and remained until 2004 when he sold The Adventure Guild in order to pursue a more formal consulting career. At some point in the summer of 2002, Mike pulled his Birkman report for his then fiancée to review. She too was amazed at the accuracy with which it was able to explain him. He said that he was considering becoming a Certified Birkman Consultant to add depth to his consulting work. She enthusiastically agreed and off he went. To date, Mike has administered over 200 Birkman instruments and been involved in numerous consulting relationships. “Life is too short and our work too much a facet of our lives not to value other people. RedPoint is the vehicle for my life long ambition to have a positive impact on corporate performance through the contributions of a happy, satisfied workforce”.
As an experiential educator, Mike worked with thousands of clients, young and old, by engaging them in activities such as hiking and backpacking, challenge ropes courses, rock climbing, caving, rappelling, mountain climbing, and expedition travel. He has professionally guided two expeditions on Pico de Orizaba (18,710ft) in central Mexico with one summit. He is a graduate of The National Outdoor Leadership School and Project Adventure, Inc. Throughout his life, Mike has studied people and watched them work. His focus with The Adventure Guild was the “development of human potential” and with RedPoint Management he ventures to see his client organizations benefit from both the development of human potential and more productive working relationships.
